The Aesthetic & Functional Results You Deserve

Revision rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that aims to correct issues resulting from a previous nose job. It is typically performed to improve the appearance and/or function of the nose, including correcting asymmetry, removing excess tissue, or improving breathing difficulties. This procedure can be complex, as it involves addressing scar tissue and previously altered nasal structures. As such, you must choose a skilled and experienced surgeon, like Dr. Z, to ensure a safe and successful outcome.

Potential Reasons for Revision Rhinoplasty:

  • Dissatisfaction with the results of a previous nose job
  • Breathing difficulties due to a deviated septum or other nasal structural issues
  • Asymmetry or imbalances in the nose
  • Overcorrection or undercorrection of the nose’s shape or size
  • Nasal tip deformities, such as bulbous or droopy tip
  • Collapsed or pinched nasal bridge
  • Excessive scarring or thickened tissue resulting from the previous surgery
  • Infection from a previous nose job

Your Revision Rhinoplasty Session

Dr. Z will meet with you to discuss your concerns and goals for the procedure. He will carefully examine your nose, taking into account any previous surgeries or medical conditions that may affect the outcome of the surgery. Dr. Z will recommend a personalized treatment plan addressing your concerns and goals. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with sedation to ensure your comfort.

Like primary rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty can be performed using an open or closed technique, depending on the extent of the repairs or structural changes. During the procedure, Dr. Z may use cartilage from the septum, ear, or rib to improve nasal support, if necessary. He will work meticulously to correct any asymmetries, restore balance, and improve both the aesthetic appearance and functionality of your nose.

Candidates for Revision Rhinoplasty:

  • Have a realistic understanding of the procedure and its potential outcomes
  • Are in good physical health
  • Have fully healed from their previous nose job (typically at least one year post-surgery)
  • Experience functional or aesthetic issues with their nose
  • Are willing to follow pre- and post-operative instructions
  • Have reasonable expectations for the final result

Your Journey to Recovery: Side Effects & Downtime

At Maan Plastic Surgery, we understand that the recovery process is an essential part of your journey. After the surgery, you can expect swelling, bruising, soreness, and a feeling of congestion in and around the nose area. The recovery timeline for revision rhinoplasty is similar to that of primary rhinoplasty, typically lasting 1 to 2 weeks.

If cartilage is taken from a rib or ear, Dr. Z will also provide additional recovery instructions. You may also need to wear a splint over your nose, which will be removed after one week.

During your recovery, it is important to keep your head elevated, including during sleep. You should avoid strenuous activities, bending, and lifting to reduce the risk of complications.

While small improvements in the appearance and function of your nose may be noticed as it heals, the final outcome will not become apparent until 12 to 18 months after surgery. Our team will provide detailed post-operative instructions to ensure a smooth recovery. We will closely monitor your progress and offer guidance and support throughout the recovery process.
