Elevate Your Breast Contours & Volume

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure designed to enhance the size and shape of the breasts. This popular cosmetic surgery involves placing implants beneath the breast tissue or chest muscles to increase volume, improve symmetry, and create a more proportionate figure. At Maan Plastic Surgery, we offer a range of breast implant options, including saline and silicone implants, to help you achieve your desired look. Dr. Z will work with you to determine the right approach for your unique goals and body type.

Breast Augmentation Corrects:

  • Small breast size that may be due to genetics or hormonal changes
  • Asymmetry, where one breast is noticeably smaller than the other
  • Loss of breast volume due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss
  • Lack of cleavage or upper breast fullness
  • A narrow chest or breast shape that is not proportionate to the rest of the body
  • Poor breast development or tubular breasts
  • Emotional distress or lack of confidence due to dissatisfaction with breast appearance

Your Breast Implant Options

Saline Implants

Saline implants are filled with sterile saltwater after insertion, which allows for a customized volume adjustment during surgery. They have a silicone outer shell, similar to silicone implants, and come in various sizes and shapes. Saline implants carry a minimal risk of leakage and can be inserted through smaller incisions. Furthermore, even if the implant leaks, the saline solution will simply get absorbed by the body. However, saline implants are less natural to the touch and can cause visible rippling in some patients.

Silicone Implants

Silicone implants are known for their natural look and feel, as the silicone gel filling closely resembles human fat tissue. They come in various shapes and sizes. While they may require slightly larger incisions than saline implants, the outcome is often worth it for patients seeking a more natural result. It is important to note that silicone implants do carry some risks, such as implant rupture or leakage, which can only be detected through imaging such as an MRI. Patients with silicone implants must undergo regular screenings to identify potential leaks.

Candidates for Breast Augmentation:

  • Women who are dissatisfied with the size, shape, or symmetry of their breasts
  • Those who have lost breast volume due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss
  • Individuals with naturally small or underdeveloped breasts
  • Those who want to improve their overall body proportions
  • Women with asymmetrical breasts
  • Those who are in good overall health and have realistic expectations for the procedure
  • Non-smokers or those who are willing to quit smoking before and after surgery
  • Individuals with fully developed breasts (usually over 18 years old)
  • Patients who are not currently pregnant or breastfeeding

Your Breast Augmentation Session

During your breast augmentation with Dr. Z, you can expect to be under general anesthesia for approximately one hour. Dr. Z will make small incisions, typically in the breast crease or along the areola edge, to place the breast implants above or below the chest muscle. Depending on your goals and body type, Dr. Z will help you choose the type of implant — saline or silicone. The incisions will be closed with dissolvable sutures, and a steri-strip will be placed over the incisions.

Your Journey to Recovery: Side Effects & Downtime

After breast augmentation with Dr. Z, you can expect some discomfort, swelling, and bruising, which can last up to a few weeks. You will be given instructions on how to manage any pain and discomfort and how to care for your incisions during the healing process. Most patients take a week off from work and other daily activities to rest and recover. Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks.

Aftercare Guidelines:

  • Wear a supportive bra 24/7 for several weeks following surgery to minimize swelling
  • Take prescribed pain medications as needed
  • Avoid any medications that can thin the blood, such as aspirin or ibuprofen
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, and bending over for at least four to six weeks
  • Keep the incision area clean and dry
  • Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments with Dr. Z to monitor healing progress
  • Be patient with the healing process, as results can take several weeks to fully develop
  • Maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle to promote optimal healing and long-term results
  • Wear sunscreen and protect your incision scars from direct sunlight for six months
